Media Center Policies

Book Checkout Policies and Procedures

Students in 1st through 5th grade are eligible to check out books. First grade students may check out one book at a time, while students in grades 2–5 may check out two books. Additional books may be checked out when needed for special projects or assignments. All books are due two weeks after checkout.

Media Center Access

Students are welcome to visit the Media Center throughout the day on Thursdays for book checkout, reading, and working on class assignments. The Media Center is also part of the weekly special area rotation, ensuring each class visits regularly. Teachers may also allow students to visit individually or in small groups on Thursdays or during open blocks.

Lost or Damaged Books

Students are encouraged to continue searching for missing books, as they are often found. There are no charges for overdue books, and students will not be restricted from checking out books as long as they remain within the checkout limit. If a book is confirmed lost or is damaged beyond repair, parents are asked to cover the cost of replacement.

Accelerated Reader (AR) Information

To determine if a book is part of the Accelerated Reader program, families can visit arbookfind.com. This resource allows users to search for a book title and view whether it has an AR quiz, along with its recommended reading level and a brief synopsis.
