Registering your child is easy! New student enrollment begins through the Leon County Schools online registration system. Families will need to provide required documents, including proof of residence, the student's birth certificate, Florida immunization records, and a current physical examination, as required by the district.

After completing the online registration, Hartsfield's front office staff will assist you with any additional paperwork or enrollment questions. We look forward to welcoming your family to the Hartsfield community!

The instructional day at Hartsfield begins at 8:20 AM and ends at 2:45 PM. Supervision is provided from 7:45 PM until 3:20 PM.

Students who require care outside of these hours may enroll in our Extended Day Enrichment Program (EDEP), which offers a safe and engaging environment before and after the school day.

Hartsfield also offers the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program for eligible students in grades 3–5. This program provides additional academic support, enrichment activities, and engaging learning opportunities beyond the regular school day.

At Hartsfield, every enrolled student participates in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), a globally recognized, inquiry-based framework for students ages 3–12. Through hands-on, student-centered learning, students ask questions, think critically, solve real-world problems, and make connections across all subject areas. The PYP develops the whole child by fostering academic excellence, creativity, collaboration, and compassion while preparing students to become confident, internationally minded learners who make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

At Hartsfield, we believe that strong partnerships between home and school help every student succeed. Families are encouraged to get involved by volunteering at school, joining our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), attending family engagement events, participating in school celebrations, and supporting classroom and school-wide activities throughout the year.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priorities. Hartsfield maintains a secure campus with controlled visitor access, a visitor check-in system, and exterior doors that remain locked during the school day. We conduct regular safety drills—including fire, severe weather, and lockdown drills—in partnership with the Leon County School District and local emergency responders to ensure students and staff are prepared for a variety of situations.

Our staff receives ongoing safety training, and we work closely with district safety personnel, school resource officers, and community partners to maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Technology is thoughtfully integrated into daily instruction to enhance learning, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. Students use a variety of digital tools and devices to research, create, communicate, and demonstrate their understanding across all subject areas.

Interactive displays, student devices, and educational technology programs support personalized learning while helping students develop the digital literacy skills they need for future success. Technology is used to enrich our inquiry-based learning through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), empowering students to explore real-world questions and become confident, responsible digital citizens.
